Petition Letter
I am petitioning for an appeal to drop my Psyc 100 course after the drop deadline. I have already taken this course within my first year and passed the course. However, my grade did not suffice to major in the program so I decided to retake it in my second year. I am currently majoring in sociology and really enjoy and plan to stay in this major, therefore, I find no reason to stay in this course as I can utilize the space to pursue another course as this is a full-year course. I am aware of the financial penalties that come with dropping this course as it is past the due date to drop and I will still have to pay for this semester's class.
A major reason why I will be dropping this course is due to the fact that I have struggled to find a sufficient way to study and succeed within its course. It is my second time taking the course, I cannot manage to obtain good grades and I realized my interest does not lie within the course or program. Within all m other sociology courses, I have mainly been able to obtain at the minimum of an A- in all of my assignments. I really believe this is due to the skill and passion have for those specific classes. Since this is the case, staying in the psyc 100 courses will only hurt me within the GPA I could potentially receive by the end of this school year as I have a few opportunities and internships relying on my GPA
I have appreciated the opportunity of taking the course in my past year, but I believe continuing on with this course will cause me more harm than good in my academic career. Thank you so much for considering my appeal.
