Dr. Johanne Benard
Associate Dean (Studies)
Queen¿¿s University
Dear Dr. Benard,
I am writing this letter to ask for special permission to have my entire 2014-2015 year at Queen¿¿s removed from my transcript.
My transition to Queen¿¿s University was very difficult and challenging. I had great difficulties fitting in and suffered from anxiety, depression, and made significant poor choices that prevented me from focusing on my studies. Starting university at 17 years of age, I recognize now that I was too young and immature. In addition, my roommate left in January, which had me feeling very lonely. In turn, this made my situation even worse. Medical issues came up that greatly interfered with my performance at school. I also participated in the Bounce Back program, but to no avail. I went home for six consecutive weekends throughout January and February in order to get back on board, but it proved to be unsuccessful due to my personal complications. Please note that I am providing medical documentation to support this claim.
Please consider my appeal to be granted. As a former Crown Ward, I have faced many challenges in my life. My journey to Queen¿¿s was challenging. However, I recognize the importance of a university degree. I intend on returning to university while living under the care and supervision of my parents, who are able to support me emotionally through difficult times. Applying to other universities with a transcript that doesn¿¿t show the marks I received from Queen¿¿s will allow me to hopefully get into a local university. I was able to graduate high school with an 83 final average, showcasing my potential as a student. I feel confident I can be successful academically and will access further supports to ensure my success. It is my intention to apply to universities within Toronto in the near future, and having a transcript that shows that I have no grades may give me access to the right post-secondary program.
It is because of the circumstances that included medical issues as well as personal ones that I am requesting to have my entire transcript removed. I would like for the transcript to say ¿¿DR¿ by all my courses that I took in the 2014-2015 year. Not having these marks removed will greatly impede my chances of being accepted into another university program.
I will be happy to answer any questions you might have. Thank you for taking the time to review my appeal.
Sincerely,
Tristan Sullivan-Farrell
